3-TEN COMPACT SNIPER RIFLE

The US Army and other groups have for some time sought after a “Compact Sniper Rifle” for several reasons; portability, along with a short OAL Rifle blends in with all other weapons carried by your team–which substantially makes you less of a target by opposing forces–snipers are “targets of choice” to enemy combatants. Further, a short OAL platform is far more maneuverable in tight quarters in urban building sweeps, maritime ship boarding ops, and dense jungle combat environments. IF a short OAL configuration platform can readily and accurately engage targets at long ranges–typically far beyond force on force combat engagements (MOST at 100 yards OR closer!) a sniper need not weigh himself down with carrying an ancillary platform for typical close range combat. Current ‘compact’ sniper platforms are NOT anywhere close to operationally ideal for several reasons:

I.AMMUNITION

Current ‘compact’ US Military sniper weapons utilize ordnance developed for use with conventional sniper platforms–with substantially longer barrels. This alone causes issues in terms of accuracy when shortening the barrel; including lower velocity, increased muzzle flash, and inherent loss of potential accuracy. When properly formulated ammunition is configured for a specific weapon system, with a specific barrel length, and the ammunition loaded extremely consistent, the ammunition accuracy factor achieves it’s highest degree of performance. Ammunition is only one of several factors necessary for extreme long range accuracy; next is the platform itself.

II. FIRING PLATFORM

The Model AR-3Ten Carbine chambered in .45 Winchester Magnum caliber has extreme accuracy ‘out of the box’ as demonstrated by consistently being able to pierce a quarter at 100 yards’ range; due to the ammunition utilized specifically designed and formulated for this short barrel platform AND the precision manufacture of all the AR-3Ten Carbines’ components to aerospace geometric tolerancing. By maintaining close tolerances on all components results in an easy to assemble platform with NO FITTING of components. Close Tolerancing does NOT mean “TIGHT FIT” as many would surmise; the best way to express this is by stating that the carbine is produced with tightly controlled dimensional “looseness” so each and every carbine is completely interchangeable of ALL components–and yes, even the BOLT & CARRIER ASSEMBLY can be interchanged with other AR-3Ten Carbines with NO change in performance OR accuracy! Further, as the Model AR-3Ten Carbine was built on a 7.62 NATO AR-10 platform, designing a 7.62 NATO Compact Sniper Platform, with ALL the characteristics of the .45 Win Mag version, is quite simple: Open up the lower receiver to take (as originally!) a longer (Front–Back) magazine plus a 3 inch longer Barrel & Handguard, along with a slightly different Charging Handle System. And, of course, developing a SINGLE configuration ordnance specifically for extreme accuracy and consistency for optimum long range target interdiction in 7.62 NATO caliber!

III. OTHER FACTORS

In addition to the above, and not yet mentioned are other significant design enhancements incorporated into The Model AR-3Ten Carbine which contribute significantly to the overall accuracy and performance; and which will also be a major factor in the “Big Brother” 7.62 NATO version. Both the Trigger and Hammer are fabricated via EDM (Electro-Discharge Method) which results in VERY consistent dimensions and features–resulting in a “creep free” trigger feel. Also both the Hammer/Trigger PIVOT AXLES are actually screws that provide smooth and consistent rotation of the hammer & trigger operation. This is FAR more capable of extreme accuracy than the push pins used in a standard AR platform! The Upper/Lower receivers of the AR-3Ten platform are secured Front/Back with “takedown” pins and ALSO with a THIRD mounting point: the Upper Receiver is screwed to the Lower Receiver via a screw; this eliminates the constant “Rattle/Rattle” of a typical AR platform, and provides the shooter a SOLID and STABLE firing platform.
